Most common mistake in social selling
One of the key activities with anything we do especially in business is to ensure we measure our results. Not just the end results, but all those micro steps it takes to get there. Identifying our KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) is critical but it's just as important to identify and measure all the metrics to get there!
So many things we do in sales and in marketing we don't bother to measure. There are a lot of great tools and ways to do this, but for many of our teams, they just have not yet formed the right habits or developed the right skills. The landscape is littered with empty crm’s (Customer Relationship management tools), and other programs designed to help us, but which usually end up being a total waste of money. This because our teams never learn how to properly use them. This is very frustrating for most companies who often feel that these programs will fix everything! The fact is, if you don't have a working system or a working process then there is no software in the world that can help you. Add to that, the fact that so many of the activities we use for both marketing and sales are just not conducive to being measured in the first place. The traditional methodologies such as trade shows, white papers, brochures, billboards, business cards, Network events, etc etc simply don't get the results they used to. Further, they aren't being measured in the first place so we never know what the true ROI (Return of Investment) is or isn't. This is a pet peeve of mine and I could go on and on but I'll save you the hassle of having to read more of what you already know… The disruptive changes from our new online world have also brought about our use of digital across everything we do. This provides an additional benefit in that we can now measure everything we do... In fact most, if not all the platforms we might use provide analytics and the means by which we can do this. The problem: There has not been until recently a way to measure all of these results in one platform or on one dashboard in a manner which allows us to adjust our sales and marketing efforts in order to maximize results The solution: Drum roll please...
Based upon our frustration we've now in tandem with our partners developed a platform that not only allows us to work with all our social channels simultaneously but also allows us to measure our results right down to the user and prospective customer level.
This allows us to now see what the real ROI of any of our activities is! What's even better is we can also tie this in with our social sales training and our social sales programs. This is a sea change. For many of our clients they can now benefit immediately by whatever they do, not only by the results but by being able to actually measure them against every other activity they do. Further they can instantly see where to put more resources and where to pull back…
This is the Golden age of digital as combined with online sales and marketing otherwise known as social selling.
You see, marketing as we've come to know It and sales as we've come to know It, no longer exist. Sales and marketing are absolutely “one” now and social selling combines the best of both. (By the way if you did not know this, that likely explains why your marketing no longer works) It's not good enough to simply be a good marketer anymore it's also not good enough to be a good salesperson. you have to have a combination of these skills in order to truly Excel with social selling. Talking the talk is no longer good enough now you must "walk the walk". The age of social selling is upon us and those that learn this skill set will prosper greatly while those that don't will be left out.
It's not only important to learn the skills it is equally important to develop and put in place the habits needed. By teaching your teams how to develop these new skills while using a platform to measure their results, well Utopia can’t be that far off!
If you would like to learn more about how you can begin your journey not only in Social selling but also to be able to measure and benefit from the results thereof, just let me know. I would be happy to give you a demo of this platform to show you not only with social selling can do for your company but what your true ROI can be when done properly and measured ** An overwhelming number of companies are still stuck in the mindset that social media is the domain of marketing rather than sales. As buying patterns continue to evolve this is an increasingly dangerous position to take. More and more every day, buyers are reaching out via social channels rather than phone or email, and your sales team needs to be equipped to properly follow-up with these leads. ** Want to read more?
