Why is Social Selling so important now?


​The need for skilled digital salespeople will not diminish any time soon, in fact, it will continue to grow at an exponential rate.  
That’s the great news.

The need for analog salespeople has now officially ended. 

This has been coming or awhile but with arrival of the pandemic, we are all living through the final moments of traditional sales methods. 
Think of it this way, “The asteroid was to dinosaurs what the corona virus is to business as we have known it” 

Why is Social Selling so critical now?
The need to do catch up with our customers and meet them where they are can no longer be ignored.
 
What does this mean?

  • Far fewer trade shows and conferences
  • Significantly more online real-time communication with customers and prospective customers alike
  • Increased online support and content for customers tied directly to available online support 
  • Far lower “cost of sales”
  • Increased use of Artificial Intelligence to support customers and sales alike
  • Much more emphasis on content marketing 
  • Much more focus on customer experience 
  • Completely re-imagined sales process for most industries 
  • Updated and aligned customer journey 
  • Realigned sales touch-points for all industries
  • These are just a few of the changes that are represented by moving to digital sales & marketing / social selling

​So what does a Digital Social Sales Process look like?

​It seems simpler and in many ways it is. This because people responding to your content and engaging are already interested having found you while researching their needs. 

Therefore, we do not have to convince them with highly skilled sales techniques designed to get agreement. In most cases, they close themselves because they are no longer passive but rather are very proactive in understanding their options.

Just like traditional sales they still require the confidence of a knowledgeable salesperson to lead the way and ensure they succeed in their decision.

Because up to 80% of the social sales process can be completed online the physical orientation of your sales force can be entirely re-imagined. 

The questions you need to answer are:
  • How many salespeople do you need?
  • Do you still need outside sales people?
  • Can sales teams be virtual in a WFH environment?
  • Can online sales systems (CRM’s) manage all activity? 
  • How many customer service people do you need? ​
These are questions than can only be answered specific to your organization and customer profiles.
